Mouthwatering prizes ranging from $16,000 in cash prizes, 3 solo exhibitions, projections at international festivals and much more are up for grabs in the PHmuseum Photography Grant.
To participate, interested photographers are invited to submit one or more projects centered around a specific theme, narrative or concept. All approaches are welcomed, from classic narratives to innovative and experimental projects. An independent jury will then review all the submissions and gather together to decide what is most relevant according to their personal criteria.
The first, second and third prize winner will walk home with $8,000, $4,000 and $1,300 respectively as well as projections at Lagos Photo Festival 2020, Verzasca Photo 2020, and Jakarta International Photo Festival 2020, and Cortona On The Move 2020, and promotion on the PHmuseum channels.
A special New Generation Prize of $2,700 plus a consultancy from the PHmuseum Education program, a projection at Lagos Photo Festival 2020, Verzasca Photo 2020, and Jakarta International Photo Festival 2020, and Cortona On The Move 2020, and promotion on the PHmuseum channels is also up for grabs.
Selected projects will also be treated to Solo Exhibition at PhEST awarded by PhEST’s Team and an exhibition at Getxophoto which is awarded by Jon Uriarte. Similarly, PHmuseum’s Director Giuseppe Oliverio and Curator Rocco Venezia will select 3 works from all the submissions to be published online on World Press Photo’s Witness, and promoted on their 1.3m follower Instagram account as well as 3 Free Online Portfolio Reviews from PHmuseum Education
The projects will be judged by Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger; Professor at University of Arts Helsinki, Azu Nwagbogu; Director, AAF and Lagos Photo, Roderick van der Lee; Fair Director Of Photo London and Tanya Habjouqa; Photographer and Member of Noor
The deadline for application is January 30, 2020 and the application entry fee is $40 while early bird fee is at a discounted fee of $27.
The PHmuseum Photography Grant is an annual initiative that recognises the importance of photography and visual storytelling. Over the years it has grown into a leading photography prize, with previous editions having awarded work by photographers like Jacob Aue Sobol, Diana Markosian, Max Pinckers, Poulomi Basu, and Tomas van Houtryve, among many others. Now in its eight edition, the initiative is designed to support the production and promotion of visual projects through cash prizes, educational activities and exposure across international festivals, and online media.
