Artnovation, the pioneering Africa–Europe creative economy platform, has officially announced its partnership with the Luciana Matalon Foundation Museum in Milan, Italy, to present the international exhibition and cultural dialogue project titled “ARTNOVATION: Echoes of Renaissance in Hues of Africa.”

The landmark exhibition will run from September 15 to 30, 2026, at the prestigious Museum- Luciana Matalon Foundation in Milan, Italy, bringing together art, fashion, diplomacy, storytelling, poetry, music, trade dialogue, and cultural innovation in one immersive experience.

Organised by CYCDI–Artnovation in collaboration with the Luciana Matalon Foundation, the exhibition creates a visionary meeting point between Africa and Europe through the creative economy. The project explores how artistic expression can become a catalyst for cultural transformation, economic development, international cooperation, and sustainable creative enterprise.

Positioned strategically ahead of Milan Fashion Week, the two-week programme will connect African and European creative industries while fostering conversations around heritage, identity, innovation, trade, diplomacy, and the future of global collaboration.

The opening programme will feature curated art previews, fashion installations, fireside trade conversations, poetic performances, musical moments, and major announcements, setting the tone for a dynamic cultural season in Milan.

The exhibition follows the successful launch of Artnovation: Afro-Italian Renaissance at the Italian Consulate General in Lagos in December 2025 and The Rock That Remembers, unveiled during Milan Design Week 2026.

At the heart of the exhibition are three interconnected artistic narratives: Afro-Italian Renaissance, The Rock That Remembers, and The Thread of Continents. Together, these chapters explore migration, resilience, the global economy, trade, and the emotional architecture of human connection across continents.

The exhibition features works by renowned Nigerian master artist Tola Wewe, cultural icon Nike Okundaye, and emerging artist Princess Marinay, whose collective works merge African mythology, Yoruba philosophy, Renaissance influences, and contemporary global realities through painting, textiles, symbolism, and mixed-media experimentation.
One of the major highlights of the exhibition, “The Legacy of Wole Soyinka in the Eyes of Michelangelo,” developed in Florence, Italy, and reimagines Renaissance artistic traditions through African intellectual and cultural consciousness to honour Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka.
Dott. Nelo Taietti, President of the Luciana Matalon Foundation, described the exhibition as an important cultural initiative that strengthens Italy–Africa relations through art, dialogue, innovation, and the creative economy. He noted that Artnovation reflects a modern form of artistic diplomacy connecting heritage, entrepreneurship, and global human exchange.

Foluke Michael, the Founder of CYCDI and Chief Curator of Artnovation, described the exhibition as more than an art showcase, but a cultural and economic proposition designed to bridge continents and industries through imagination and creative enterprise.

“Artnovation is building a new narrative where art becomes diplomacy, fashion becomes storytelling, and creativity becomes an economic bridge between nations. Milan provides the perfect intersection for this dialogue between African heritage and European Renaissance influence as we shape new possibilities for the future of the global creative economy.” Foluke Stated

The Art of Fashion segment within the exhibition will transform textile traditions into storytelling installations, weaving together African symbolism, Nigerian local threads and weaving traditions, Italian craftsmanship, and contemporary fashion innovation.

The exhibition ultimately positions Milan as a strategic global meeting point for Africa–Europe creative cooperation, cultural diplomacy, and innovation-driven partnerships.1
Somewhere between the ancient rocks of Abeokuta and the timeless stones of Milan, a new Renaissance is quietly taking shape.
