Tems Faces Backlash Over New Music Announcement Amid Nigeria’s Current Crisis

Award-winning Nigerian singer Tems has found herself in the eye of a storm after announcing the release of a new song, with many Nigerians accusing her of being insensitive to the country’s current situation.

The singer took to Twitter to reveal that she would be dropping a new track on Wednesday, describing it as exactly what her fans need.
“What you need. Wednesday,” she wrote.

However, the announcement did not sit well with many Nigerians, who felt the timing was tone-deaf given the country’s prevailing hardships.

Angry fans and followers flooded her comment section, dragging her for promoting music while the nation grapples with serious challenges.
“Dumbass, Nigeria is bleeding, and you’re dropping this,” one user wrote.

Another user said that while he loves Tems, the post exposed a pattern of selfishness among big-shot Nigerian artistes, adding that they appear disconnected from the realities their fans face daily.

Several others echoed similar sentiments, urging the singer to read the room and show solidarity with Nigerians during these trying times.

“This is not the time to drop songs, support our movement, this country dey spoil,” another user wrote.

As of this report, Tems has yet to respond to the wave of criticism.
