It has come to light, that the sister of multi-platinum R&B singer, Akon, is the brain behind his stupendous $80-million (about R1 173 704 000) brand.

The celebrity musician whose full name is Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam has been known worldwide for his fame.

Blackbusiness.com reports that Akon’s sister, Khady Thiam Gueye, has been the driving force behind the success of Akon and that of other members of their family.

As soon as Khady graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, she started to work as an executive assistant for Akon.

She became the project manager of Akon Lighting Africa. While at this post, she spearheaded the mission of spreading awareness of the brand worldwide.

It was in the midst of all these that she pursued her master’s degree in entrepreneurship and founded her own consulting firm called True Media Independence (TMI Worldwide).

Speaking in an interview, Khady Thiam Gueye, said: “This superpower provides indisputable evidence not just of women’s talents and capability to lead but that my contribution is now widely recognised and welcomed in entertainment arenas and networks”.

Khady also revealed that she aspires to put up more business ventures in the future.

The family’s success story proves wrong the popular opinion that family members are unable to work together on businesses.
