Saudi Arabia is intensifying its initiatives to attract more tourists from China, with an ambitious target of hosting over five million Chinese visitors by 2030. This goal is set to be achieved by improving travel accessibility and promoting greater cultural interactions between the two nations.
On Friday, the Saudi Travel Expo was officially launched at Beijing’s renowned Tiantan (Temple of Heaven) Park, a prominent cultural site in the city. Organized by the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), the nine-day event seeks to elevate Saudi Arabia’s global tourism profile while appealing to Chinese travelers.
Expo attendees have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Saudi culture through a variety of exhibitions showcasing the country’s rich traditions. From captivating art performances to the unique experience of tasting date-infused coffee, visitors can also witness live demonstrations of traditional weaving techniques. These activities offer Chinese visitors a glimpse into renowned tourist destinations such as Diriyah and Al-Ula, providing an authentic taste of Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage.
The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has revealed that Saudi tourism officials are developing additional measures aimed at improving the travel experience for Chinese visitors. These efforts will prioritize both safety and enjoyment, ensuring a more seamless and enriching journey for tourists from China.
Expanding the tourism industry is a key objective of Saudi Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia has recently been recognized as an approved group travel destination for Chinese citizens. With the introduction of direct flights linking major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to Riyadh and Jeddah, traveling to Saudi Arabia will now be more accessible and convenient for Chinese tourists.
