Organisers of the African Book Festival in Berlin, InterKontinental, have announced Angolan author, Jose Eduardo Agualusa as the headliner for this year’s edition of the fest.
Announced on its twitter handle, the Berlin-based literary agency wrote: “The African Book Festival Berlin announces this year’s headliner: Angola’s best known writer José Eduardo Agualusa opens the three-day literature festival on April 17th , at Villa Elisabeth in Mitte.”
The fest is themed ‘Telling the Origin Stories’ and will be held from 17-19 April 2020, at Villa Elisabeth in Mitte.
Agualusa will open the event with a session tagged ‘A Musical Journey Through Angolan History’, with music by Aline Frazão and Toty Sa’Med.
The 2020 ABF Berlin will be curated by Angolan musician and author, Kalaf Epalanga and will feature Congolese novelist, Fiston Mwanza Mujila; France-based Burundian artist, Gael Faye; British-Eritrean-Ethiopian novelist, Sulaiman Addonai; and Brazilian feminist, journalist & academic Djamila Ribeiro.
The event will feature literature, poetry and music from Portuguese-speaking parts of the world.
