DeeDee Records plans DDEA Awards in Nigeria

The founder of US-based DeeDee Records, Damian Chukwu, has disclosed that the company would host an award to honour Nigerians in entertainment and humanitarian activities in the country this year.

He explained that he resolved to do this to encourage more Nigerians to engage in humanitarian works while remaining active in entertainment.

Chukwu said that nominees would be announced at a news briefing in Lagos soon and that the main awards will happen in May 2020.

He said: “Deedee Records decided to expand its scope by honouring those fighting for the needy with their resources and arts. We will be focusing on humanitarian works now that we have a foundation in place. So, the DDEA Humanitarian Award USA is coming to Nigeria for the first time. Our goal is to thank those helping the needy and encourage others to do the same. We will be hosting the Face of DDEA competition on May 29 as part of the final event.”

Also commenting, entertainment personality, Amed-O, who heads the local organising committee, lauded the management of the recording company for encouraging people to support the needy.

“This event is coming to Africa for the first time. It is special because we will also be crowning a Queen in Nigeria, who will participate at the Face of DDEA contest in the USA in September. The Nigeria Queen will emerge in May, so it is a great opportunity for people who have brains and beauty,” he said.

Deedee Records has produced artistes including Moses Efret, an actor cum gospel singer as well as US-based afro-pop singer, Indo Baba.
