Popular Yoruba comic actor, Kunle Adetokunbo, popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu, has died.
Although the cause of his death is still unknown, fellow actor, Kunle Afod, shared the news on his Instagram page on Friday.
The Lagos Island-born Ogun State indigenes would have been 50 on May 31, 2022.
President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr. Latin, also confirmed his death.
“Yes, it is confirmed. He died in a hospital this morning. But I am yet to get full details of the incident,” he said on Friday.
The deceased shot into limelight for his role in the movie titled: “Omo Oran”, featuring the veteran actor Fatai Adetayo (Lalude) and has since featured in several other movies.
Tunfulu started his acting career in the earlier part of his life when he first featured in a television programme titled “Theatre Omode.” The first movie he featured in was ‘Aje ni Iya mi’, where he played the role of Dejo in 1991.
His movie career was greatly inspired by Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje) and Kayode Olasehinde (Baba Ajirebi), with whom he worked closely.
He joined Akuko Gagara Theatre Group and Kolawole International Theatre Group a few years later. He got his first television appearance in 1987 in the drama series “Apere Ijongbon” by the Kolawole International Theatre Group.
