Tiwa Savage Bemoans Age-Shaming Over Her Fashion Style

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has opened up about the criticism she faces due to her fashion choices.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Receipts podcast, the 44-year-old single mother expressed frustration over the constant backlash she receives for her outfits, particularly because of her age.

She pointed out the double standard, comparing her experience to that of American singer Beyoncé, who is celebrated for her appearance despite being in her 40s.

She said, “They age-shame me every single day. They say, a woman of your age, how can you be wearing a bikini? I can because I have a body.

She added, “Beyoncé is in her 40s and wears bikinis but Americans don’t age shame her. They would be like, for her age, black don’t crack. It’s more celebrated when you look good in your older age.

Tiwa also addressed the frequent remarks about how her son might react to her fashion choices, saying, “But they [Nigerians], always throw these things like, when her son grows up, he’s going to see this. My son is going to be like, my mum is a powerful and beautiful woman.”
