Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has hinted that she received several death threats over her pregnancy rumours.

She made this known in an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, where she debunked reports that American rapper Future, was responsible for her pregnancy.

Tems also stated that despite them working together on the rapper’s Grammy-winning song, ‘Wait For U’ alongside Drake, she has never met Future.

“When I heard [the rumours] that I was pregnant, I didn’t actually think anybody believed it.

“I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I’ve never met him in my life. So it’s crazy.”

Tems also disclosed during the interview that she “would like to direct a video for Asake.”

She said: “I love him. I can tell that he is very artistic.”

She explained that her likeness for the YBNL star is “just for work, just to direct his [music] video.”
