Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema, has become the first African artiste to make the Billboard end-of-the year album chart with his debut album ‘Raves & Roses’ finishing the year at NO. 157.
Rema was also ranked at NO. 41 on Billboard’s 2023 end-of-the-year artiste chart, a feat that is largely connected to the commercial success of his hit single ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez.
‘Calm Down’ peaked at NO. 3 while also spending more than a calendar year on the chart which is unprecedented for an African artiste.

Rema also finished the year as the second-ranking Afrobeats artiste behind Burna Boy.
After becoming the youngest African artiste to sell out the O2, the Mavins Record signee was honoured by Spotify for his phenomenal achievement after ‘Calm Down’, featuring Selena Gomez reached an astonishing 1 billion streams on the music streaming platform.
The Billboard end-of-the-year chart is a reflection of Rema’s sensational feat in the United States where he is one of the artistes advancing African music.
