Mtv Base confirms Burna Boy as rave of the moment

Afrofusion singer and rave of the moment, Burna Boy, is certainly ending the year on a good note. Aside his Grammy award nomination and several multi-million naira shows this month, the 28-year-old star has been named the Hottest Nigerian Artiste of 2019 by music and entertainment channel, MTV Base.

The singer has had a phenomenal year with the release of his fourth studio album and also won several awards including the MTV EMA, BET Award for Best International Artiste, among others.

In the ranking, Burna Boy is followed closely in second place by Davido, who like Wizkid, sold out the O2 Arena in London earlier in the year.

Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley and Wizkid emerged third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The decision was reached by MTV Base Roundtable, a 7-man panelist of some of the brightest minds in the Nigerian music industry.

The panelists, this year, included On Air Personalities Moet Abebe, N6 and Awazi; Mavins Official DJ Big N; Hype Man, Shoddy; Marketing & Sales Manager Universal Music Nigeria, Akinnizle; and MTV Base’s Talent and Music Manager, Alex Hughes.

The criteria for choosing which artistes make it into the list include airplay, chart ranking, influence, collaboration and general visibility amongst others.
