Jokes apart as “Joker” dominates Oscar nominations

Comic book film, ‘Joker’ is leading the pack with 11 nominations for this year’s Academy awards. The nominations were released on Monday by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organisers of the prestigious ceremony.

The film’s nominations equal its tally at the British Academy Film Awards, where it garnered same number of nominations.

The Todd Phillips film is up for best picture, best director and best actor for Joaquin Phoenix, including eight other awards. The 92nd Academy Awards holds in Los Angeles on February 10.

Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and Martin Scorsese’s ‘Irishman’ follow closely with 10 nominations each.
