King Sunny Ade, PSquare, Others To Thrill At 18th AMAA

***Funnybone, Chigul, Kachi Ofia Are Hosts

All is set as the city of Lagos will play host Sunday evening to the gathering of African filmmakers and stars at 18th edition of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

The event, which will be broadcast live on ST Nollywood channels on StarTimes and StarTimes-ON mobile app respectively, will take place at the bespoke Jewel Aeida hall in Lekki, Lagos.

During the week, organizers of the show announced that King Sunny Ade and the re-united pop twins, P-Square, are the headliners of the award night.

Other performers will include Yinka Davies, Young Jon, Ayo Bankole Jnr, Zadok, Matty, Veentage Band, DJ Kenchello and Gerald Eze.

Popular comedian and MC, Funnybone; TV show host, Kachi Offia; and actress Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah have been confirmed as hosts of the award gala night.

However, ahead of tomorrow’s show, the organizers graduated a total of 890 students of the African Film Academy sponsored by the Lagos State Government with grants to help them start up in the creative sector. The graduation of the students was part of the week-long activities lined up ahead of the award night.

A glittering fashion show was also organised on Friday as part of the activities leading yo Subday’s awards ceremony.
Awards will be given out in 26 categories in what is now regarded as the African Oscars, which was started in 2005 by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.
