A discord brewing between Asa and Joeboy has resulted in a ₦300m copyright Infringement lawsuit against the emPawa Africa artiste for his recent single, ‘Contour’ which was produced by Tempoe.

On Tuesday, Joeboy uploaded on his Instagram story, a letter addressed to him by Asa’s lawyers and detailing claims of a copyright lawsuit relating to the creation of the said song.

According to the letter, the composition of the song was developed by Asa at a recording session with Tempoe on September 22, 2020. It added that their client had denied Joeboy and Tempoe permission to use the composition.

The letter demanded that the music be removed from all Digital Service Providers within 24 hours. They also ordered that Joeboy and Tempoe apologise to their client for the copyright violation and seize any and all further infractions.

Asa is requesting a settlement of three hundred million naira in damages as well as a 60% share of the split sheet as compensation.

In his reaction to the letter, Joeboy dared Asa and her legal team to do much worse.

“You said I had 24 hours, it’s been 48 hours, do something,” a post on his Facebook page read.

He shared the letter with the caption “LOL (Laugh out loud)”, insisting that his gentleness should not be mistaken for weakness.

“Cos I dey always do love and light you think sey I be soft meat,” he wrote.
