Results from the autopsy conducted on the late artist known as Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba, are anticipated to be ready within the next three to four weeks.
During a coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death, Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, made this announcement while testifying.
The defense counsel questioned the witness during the inquest proceedings.
Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, was a popular figure whose demise stirred controversy both nationally and internationally, leading to the Lagos State Government initiating the coroner’s inquest into his death.
The inquest, which commenced on October 13, 2023, is being held at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.
In his testimony to the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Somiari stated, “We anticipate receiving the initial autopsy findings within three to four weeks to validate the cause of death.”
He mentioned, “We explored various possibilities, including investigating the presence of any toxins that could have played a role in Mohbad’s death, as no specific cause was initially identified.”
Reassuring the public, the forensic expert emphasized the security and monitoring measures in place for the autopsy samples.
“We have established protocols for the safe storage of items and secure handling of results. We have a comprehensive system to track samples sent abroad for further analysis,” he affirmed.
