Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Wizkid, and sensational fast-rising songstress, Tems, bagged four nominations at the 2021 Soul Train Awards for their groundbreaking collaboration, ‘Essence’.
The artistes bagged nominations in the Song of The Year, Video of The Year, The Ashford and Simpson songwriter’s award and Best Collaboration categories.
Wizkid and Tems also snagged nominations for Album of The Year, for ‘Made In Lagos’ and nomination for Best New Artiste, respectively.
It’s been a stellar year for both artistes. Just last week, they were both nominated for the ‘Best African Act’ category at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).
While Wizkid has coasted with his fourth album, Tems has also featured on a chart-successful Drake song.
Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos Album’, which housed the ‘Essence’ track, has also reportedly been submitted for the Grammys Global Music Album award category.
The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show which previously aired in national broadcast syndication, and honours the best in African-American culture music and entertainment.
