The Board of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has appointed Bernice Eriemeghe as the society’s new General Manager.

Eriemeghe, who was until her latest appointment Head of Finance and Administration at COSON, takes over from Chinedu Chukwuji who has been the General Manager of COSON since its inception and whose voluntary retirement took effect on April 1.

During a brief formal handover ceremony held at the COSON House Arena Ikeja, Chukwuji appealed to all staff of COSON to give the new General Manager the same support that was given to him saying that his new position as a Consultant to the society, as approved by the Board, makes him only a phone call away and always available to share his wealth of experience whenever required.

The former GM reassured the board members and staff of the society that his commitment to the continued growth of COSON remains strong and will last for the rest of his life.

In his address, Chairman of COSON, Tony Okoroji, praised Chukwuji for his years of service and the warmth with which he is handing over the reins to his successor. Okoroji presented him with a plaque in recognition and appreciation of his contribution to the growth of collective management of copyright in Nigeria during his almost ten years as General Manager of COSON.

Okoroji pledged that, going forward, COSON’s Board is laser-focused on making the society a first class international organization driven by data, digital technology, transparency and accountability with the clear objective being the happiness and well-being of the stakeholders.

Bernice Eriemeghe is a graduate of Accounting with an MBA and belongs to several professional bodies including the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (MILRM). The widely travelled Eriemeghe who speaks fluent French, has had significant international work experience, especially in France. Several times in the past, she has acted as COSON’s General Manager in the absence of Chukwuji.
