A 3-day celebration of contemporary Nigerian music, especially the Afrobeats, will see current headliners like Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy headline concerts on different days, while other global artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Popcan, Chris Brown and more are also part of the performance roaster.

Hashtagged #AFRONATIONPortugal, the promoter, Segun Adeosun Jnr, popularly known as King Smade, made this known over the weekend through his social media handles.

“The biggest black festival in the world #AFRONATIONPortugal This weekend It’s going to be a lifetime experience #ANP2022 #AFR,” he wrote.

He also informed fun lovers that one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, Davido, would be joining others to add flavour to the festival beach experience.

The festival will commence on Friday, July 1, with Davido, Popcaan and PSquare, while Wizkid and Chris Brown take over on the 2nd day and Burna Boy closes the curtains on the Sunday, 3rd July alongside Megan Thee Stallion.

Other Nigerian artistes confirmed for the Afro Nation 2022 include Rema, CKay, Nair Marley, Omah Lay, Kizz Daniel, BNXN fka Buju, Tekno and more.

Afro Nation Portugal is a festival of Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, amapiano, Afrohouse and more held each summer on the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach, just south of Portimão.

After having to postpone two consecutive editions ostensibly due to covid19 pandemic, Afro Nation is raring to go again as it returns to the sunny shores of Portugal for another weekend in the company of some of the world’s biggest artistes.

The 2019 edition of the event in Portugal featured several Nigerian music stars with majority of attendees flying in from England.

However, the debut edition of it in Ghana in December of the same year was not as grand as planned.

It’s not sure yet if the expected Nigerian debut of the festival will happen this December.
