Trendupp Africa has trained over 200 aspiring content creators as part of its build-up to the fifth edition of the Trendupp Awards, scheduled to be held on July 13.

The event, themed “Audacity – The Place of Boldness in Content Creation”, was held in collaboration with leading creators, and the office of the special adviser to the Lagos state governor on tourism, arts and culture.

The TrenduppX Masterclass combined workshops, networking, and industry insight sessions hosted by media personality Pelumi Olawuni.

Speaking at the event, Tiwalola ‘TJDotts’ Olunubi, founder/CEO of DottsMediaHouse and Trendupp Africa, said the training aims to support the creators’ economy by bridging the gap between creators and brands.

“Every month, we train 50 people, giving them the needed tools and insights to help them become a Force in their niche,” he said.

“This being a pre-event to the 5th edition of Trendupp Awards has allowed participants to meet with their favourite creators and learn a lot about navigating the industry.”

During the workshop, digital creators like Beauty Tukura, HusbandMaterial, Amazing Klef, and OmoyeCooks gave participants tools, strategies, and personal stories to guide their journey in building standout brands online.

Delivering the keynote address, Idris Aregbe, special adviser to Lagos governor on tourism, arts and culture, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening the creative economy.

“Lagos remains committed to growing the creators’ economy by providing the right platforms, policies, and support for our talented youths to thrive,” he said.

“The masterclass aligns with our vision to showcase the creativity within Lagos and strengthen our position as the hub of arts, culture, and innovation in Africa.”

Aregbe also donated ₦2 million to support selected participants, while Sam Ochoma, CEO of The Hook Ent., offered one participant a spot in a feature-film production.

All participants also received certificates of completion at the event.

Launched in 2024, the TrenduppX Masterclass was designed to connect aspiring creators with experienced voices in the digital economy.
