Tosin Kehinde Ologun’s inspiring journey from Nigeria to London exemplifies her dedication to transforming cultural fashion into a global phenomenon. As the founder of the brand Táàńwá which in Yoruba means “Sought after”. Her design philosophy celebrates African aesthetics, storytelling, and sustainable, slow fashion practices. Over nearly a decade, she has evolved from being an apprentice into an influential entrepreneur, with a portfolio spanning Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Through Táàńwá, Tosin aims to create a timeless, impact-driven fashion brand that honors African heritage, empowers women, and appeals to a diverse audience.

Her passion for fashion ignited during secondary education in Nigeria, where she began experimenting on sewing by making bags using local fabrics. Recognizing the importance of formal training, she pursued fashion professionally, enrolling as an apprentice in 2016. During this period, she gained foundational skills in garment construction, complemented by short courses in fashion sketching, technical drawing, and design illustration, which sharpened her ability to communicate ideas effectively with artisans.

In 2019, Tosin launched her own brand, initially operating under the name “Omotola Official” in Abuja. The bespoke fashion label specialized in bridalwear, formal attire, and Afro-contemporary designs, earning recognition for meticulous craftsmanship, impeccable fit, and cultural storytelling. Her work attracted clients from diverse backgrounds, including professionals and creatives, who appreciated the brand’s unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Her move to the United Kingdom marked a turning point. Tosin Ologun observed that her high-quality designs resonated deeply with Africans, Europeans, and other mixed-race clients. Recognizing the demand for her cultural aesthetic, Tosin Ologun began tailoring her offerings to meet international standards which led to a strategic rebranding; changing “Omotola Official” to Táàńwá, which signifies “what we’ve been seeking” in Yoruba. The new brand name encapsulates her mission to produce culturally rich, high-quality designs that elevate art and empower her clients.

By 2025, Táàńwá was formally registered as a business in both the UK and Nigeria, solidifying its presence in the global fashion scene. The brand’s expansion into London’s fashion industry underscores Tosin Ologun’s commitment to redefining cultural fashion on an international stage.

Tosin Ologun’s journey from Nigeria to London exemplifies her boldness, innovation, and steadfast commitment to elevating African heritage through fashion. Today, Taanwa (Táàńwá) stands as a powerful symbol of cultural pride and contemporary elegance on the global stage. Her story serves as an inspiration to emerging designers, encouraging them to honor their roots while striving for international acclaim. As she continues to challenge conventions and reshape cultural fashion, Tosin’s enduring influence is poised to leave a lasting mark on the global fashion industry.
