As African nations seek new pathways for economic diversification, the TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF) 2026 is positioning live theatre and stage craft as a serious economic force.
With the theme “The Spark: Igniting the African Economy Through Stage Craft,” the 2-day festival will hold on November 18, and 19, 2026 at Shodex Gardens, Ilupeju and the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. It will bring together industry leaders, investors, policymakers, and creative practitioners.
Despite being one of Africa’s fastest-growing sectors, the creative economy still lacks the structured commercial framework that film, music, and fashion enjoy. TAF 2026 aims to close that gap.
The festival will feature a Stakeholders Roundtable, Master Class Series, and Arts/Brand Exhibition designed to drive B2B partnerships between corporate brands and theatre producers.
Day One will focus on community engagement and economic visibility. Activities include Street Theatre showcases, brand exhibitions, health outreach through the Africa Rise Against Malaria (ARAM) Advocacy, and “A Walk For Peace.”
Organizers say the grassroots programming highlights how theatre can drive local commerce and community mobilization.
Day Two moves to the Agip Recital Hall at MUSON Centre for high-level industry sessions. Highlights include the Veteran Fireside Conversation, Generation Next Theatre (GNT) Pitches, and Command Performances.
The grand finale will feature The African Theatre Fashion & Pageantry Initiative ‘The Metallic’, #Theatre4PeaceAfrica, and the Gala and Awards Night honouring outstanding contributors to Africa’s creative landscape.
Speaking on the vision, Alayande Stephen T., CEO/Co-Founder of TAF, said: “We must transition from viewing theatre strictly through a cultural lens to evaluating it as an industrial economic driver. ‘The Spark’ is about building sustainable value chains from scriptwriting and set construction to ticket sales, lighting technology, and venue operations, that generate real revenue across African markets.”

TAF 2026 provides the structured environment where policy, investment, and artistic talent converge to build a resilient creative ecosystem for generations to come.”
