Come February 4-6, 2020, all roads will lead to the Speke Resort, Munyonyo, Uganda for the fifth edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE 2020) where sustainable tourism development will be the key focus.

The event which is a key feature of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) calendar is a tourism and travel trade exhibition which brings together regional and international tour operators, travel agents, destination marketing agencies and various players in the tourism trade to network and facilitate tourism business.

According to the organizer, the event will feature a business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) trade events that aim to beam the searchlight on Uganda as a preferred destination in the region and internationally.

“POATE 2020 will integrate a business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) trade event format under the theme: Inspiring high value engagement to promote intra-Africa travel for leisure, business and adventure, aimed at raising Uganda’s profile as a preferred destination in the region and internationally.

It will also feature a panel discussion on sustainable tourism development thereby presenting participants with the opportunity to learn from tourism thought leaders and experts from all over Africa” the organizer said.

To do justice to the theme will be Ms. Elsie G. Attafuah, Resident Representative, United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, Dr Celestine Katongole, Sustainable Destinations, The Executive Director of Uganda Wildlife Authority, UWA, Sam Mwandha, and Chief Executive Officer, African Wildlife Foundation, AWF, Kaddu Sebunya while the panel session will be moderated by Mr. Kawere Richard.
