Planning yuletide holiday destinations without visa hassle? Here’s a list of countries to consider

by The Culture Newspaper
Your Nigerian passport isn’t so great, agreed! You can’t visit the US/Canada/UK with ease, normal…it’s difficult obtaining the visas. You spend all your vacations in Dubai or Ghana…why? There are many countries you can visit with your green passport. Why limit yourself to a few countries?
The Nigerian passport is still good enough to give Nigerian travellers access to well over 40 countries. Yes! That’s not so many compared to other passports, but it’s still cool.
Briefly, we’ll be listing a few NICE countries you can visit on a Nigerian Passport.
VISA FREE
1. Seychelles 🇸🇨
With the island nation’s visa-free policy, Nigerian passport holders do not require a Seychellois visa for stays up to 30 days. You’ll only get a visitor’s permit at the point of entry.
2. Cape Verde 🇨🇻
This island country on the West African coast allows Nigerians to enter the country, visa free.
3. Barbados 🇧🇧
Nigerians are welcomed to stay for up to 6 months, visa free, in this Eastern Caribbean Island. All you need is a valid passport and return ticket.
4. All the ECOWAS countries are also visa free for Nigerian passport holders. All 15 of them from Ghana to Gambia and beyond.
VISA ON ARRIVAL
5. Lebanon 🇱🇧
Who knew getting to Lebanon could be this easy? This Middle East country offers a VOA policy to Nigerian passport holders. You will get your visa at the immigration point for $20, without stress.
6. Rwanda 🇷🇼
This East African country with the greenest and cleanest city in Africa also offers VOA to Nigerian passport holders. All you have to do is show your travel documents and in less than 5 minutes, the immigration officer stamps your passport. The visa costs $30
7. Mauritius 🇲🇺
This beautiful island nation located in East Africa is very welcoming to Nigerian travellers. When visiting Mauritius, you’ll get your visa on arrival, for free.
8. Kenya 🇰🇪
Getting visa to one of the top destinations in East Africa is on arrival. You do not need to apply prior to your trip. You get your passport stamped at the POE for $50.
E-VISA
9. São Tomé and Príncipe 🇸🇹
Visiting this twin island, the second smallest country in Africa, you are required to get your visa approval before arrival. All you have to do is apply for the visa online and in 2-4 days, you get your approval. Upon arriving the country, you’ll pay the fee (€20) at the immigration point.
10. Turkey 🇹🇷
With a valid US/UK/Schengen/Irish visa, you can apply for a Turkish visa. I think this is even the easiest visas to get. In 10 minutes, you have your e-visa sitting in your email. It costs $41.
Did you know that with visas such as the US/UK/Schengen/Canadian, you can have access to some other countries? Yeah, you wasted your US/UK if you didn’t maximize it.
I once read that “many visas perish for lack of knowledge” I agree!
VISA FREE WITH US/UK/CANADIAN/SCHENGEN VISA
11. São Tomé and Príncipe 🇸🇹
Holding a valid multiple entry visa to UK/US/Schengen, you can enter the country, visa free.
12. Turks and Caicos 🇹🇨
As a Nigerian with a valid US/UK/Canadian visa, you do not require a visa to Turks for up to 90 days stay.
13. Mexico 🇲🇽
With your valid US visa, Canada, UK, Japan or the Schengen countries, you can visit Mexico visa free.
14. All Schengen countries.
A valid visa to one Schengen country gives you free access to all the 26 Schengen states.
Now that you know there are places to visit, would you be maximising your passport/valid visas?
Don’t join others in complaining about the strength of Nigerian passport.
Go out there and EXPLORE. Be like Chrys that travelled to 22 countries in 2 years, WITH a Nigerian passport.🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
