The Offa Descendants’ Union has announced that this year’s Ijakadi Festival will hold from 24th to 29th December.
In a statement signed by the National General Secretary, Muideen Adebayo Ibrahim, this year’s edition of the wrestling festival is the eighth in the series and “promises to be a bang.”
The statement listed some of the activities lined up for the festival to include: special prayers, colloquium, Moremi stage play, Miss Arewa, Omosunwon, carnival procession, football competition, indoor games, arts exhibition, hair style display, onile jile, excursion to tourist sites in Offa, food expo and ijakadi bout between the Olofa of Offa and High Chief Essa, among others.
It will be ecalled that the Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammmed, had announced at the sixth edition of the festival that Ijakadi Festival would be included in the National Calendar of Festivals in order to give it more bite and exposure.
