It was a night of glitz, glamour and scintillating performances at the closing night of the eighth edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) which held on Sunday, January 15.
The grand ceremony held at the 15,000-seater Dakar Arena in Dakar, Senegalese capital.
It was a night that had music stars from around the continent storm the venue to receive their awards for their contribution to music in Africa.
In his welcome address, AFRIMA President, Mike Dada had said, “This is such an exciting moment in African music, and we are proud of the way these artists have been able to cross over to several markets both on the home front and even globally.”
Highlights on the night included grand performances from P-Square and Black Sheriff, which lit up the main awards ceremony.
Burna Boy got the ultimate prize of Artiste of the Year as well as Album of the Year.
But Davido won in five categories, while Asake, the rave of the moment, was live in Dakar to personally collect his own award.
