Nigeria’s internet sensation, Ikorodu Bois, have received a filming starter pack from Netflix to support the quality of their productions.
Ace filmmaker and CEO KAP Motion Pictures, Kunle Afolayan, coordinated the delivery of the film starter pack, consisting of Canon c100, professional film lenses, DJI Ronin-S, iMac Pro, Light sets and more.
The team is made up of Muiz (15), Fawas (12) and Malik (10). Their 22-year-old brother, Babatunde Sanni, manages and edits the videos.
Famous for remaking movie clips and music videos, they caught international attention when they recreated quite a number of high-end productions including Netflix originals ‘Extraction’ and ‘La casa de papel’ (Money Heist).
Reacting to the gifts, Ikorodu Bois shared a video on their official Twitter handle on Wednesday, displaying the set of equipment received from the American online streaming giant and film production company.
“Guyssss!! @NetflixFilm sent us this presents omg!😭 thank you guys @NetflixFilm,” the video was captioned.
An equally impressed Afolayan, during the group’s visit to his productions hub on Wednesday announced his intention to award the group with a full scholarship into his newly launched KAP Film and Television Academy.
“Being that we strongly believe that nothing is impossible with hard work, passion and undaunted creativity, which is a reflection of the Ikorodu Bois, we have decided to nurture & encourage them as well as every creative out there. To do this, we are pleased to award the Ikorodu Bois with a full scholarship into KAP Film & Television Academy, plus an exclusive mentorship program with Kunle Afolayan!”
The Ikorodu Bois’ craft has been acknowledged by notable brands and personalities like Netflix, CNN, Will Smith, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne “The rock” Johnson and Álvaro Morte, among others with growing popularity on social media.
