by The Culture Newspaper July 13, 2023

Organisers of the Headies Awards have unveiled Nominees for the voting and non-voting categories of the 16th edition of the awards ceremony.

Grammy award-winner, Burnaboy leads the pack this year with 10 nominations, including the highly-coveted African Artiste of the Year award.

The African Artiste of the Year award is a voting award category for an individual African artiste or group with the most outstanding achievement, impact, and infiltration into the international music scene within the year under review.

However, the “last last” crooner was also joined by fellow African stars, like Marwa Loud, from Morocco, who is also the only female on the list, Black Sheriff from Ghana, and Nigerian star, Rema and Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania.

Nominated in the 2023 Next Rated Category is Asake who enjoyed an unprecedented run in 2022 with consecutive releases of chart-topping singles which was complemented by the release of his debut album ‘Mr Money With The Vibe’.

Also nominated is Seyi Vibez who also enjoyed a wonderful run with the release of his debut album ‘Billion Dollar Baby’.

Young Jonn, Spyro and Victony conclude the list after equally releasing hit singles in the year under review.
