As a way of celebrating Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary, “Fuji: A Opera” in partnership with Goldberg Larger Beer, Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN) and RF Gardens organised a Fuji music show tagged: ‘Fuji In The Garden’.
The independence evening event was opened by the host, Jide Taiwo, who highlighted the essence of the event. He explained that ‘Fuji: A Opera Xpress’ and ‘Fuji On The Streets’ were other products of Fuji: A Opera.
The event which aligns with Fuji: A Opera’s aim of recognising the past and re-imagining the future, started with DJ Adey Omotade creating nostalgic feelings amongst the audience with his genius mix of Fuji classics.
The stage was set for the right mood as it opened the rave of entertainment. It started with the Wayne of Fuji Music, Shanko Rasheed who had an electrifying display which could only remind you of why the Fuji kid of early 2000s attracted so much love from Fuji lovers.
A special award of outstanding performance was presented to the Project Manager of Fuji: A Opera; Nkechi Obidi by the Executive Producer of Fuji: A Opera, Tosin Ashafa, FUMAN President, Sikiru Ayinde Agboola, and Goldberg Lager Beer Brand Manager, Yemi Ekundayo for her service in keeping the genre alive.
While presenting the award, Goldberg Lager Beer Brand Manager, Yemi Ekundayo remarked that Nkechi was exceptional at what she does. In his words, “Nkechi’s work rate and ability to pay attention to details has shown that Goldberg’s initiative of supporting women in business is really a great one and we’re proud to be associated with Fuji: A Opera.”
Popular Fuji music star, Abass Akande Obesere, brought all the energy unto the stage as he reveled in his hit albums. With top-notch stage coordination, he endeared himself to the audience which included popular actor, Otunba Akin Lewis. He dedicated a tune to Fuji: A Opera’s partner, Goldberg as well.
In what can only be displayed by royalty, Obesere, who is also known by his fans as ‘the Paramount King of Fuji’ shut down the show in a majestic manner by ushering Shanko Rasheed to the stage to join him in a theatrical performance.
The event was concluded with an appreciation by Papa Omotayo; Executive Producer of Fuji: A Opera, who thanked the guests and sponsors for identifying with the brand and for choosing to spend their Friday at a live unplugged set of Fuji which gave unlimited entertaining vibes.
