Nigerian filmmakers, Arie and Chuko Esiri’s debut feature film, ‘Eyimofe’ will hit the bigscreen at the Berlin International Film Festival holding in Germany next mknth as Nigeria’s first Independent Feature Film.

Following their short films, Goose (2017) and Besida (2018), the film is the twin brothers’ first co-directed feature, produced in collaboration with The Guardian Studios in Lagos.

‘Eyimofe – This is my Desire’ was selected among 10 other films for the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) Narrative Lab in July 2019 – a year-long fellowship for first-time filmmakers on their debut feature film.

The screenplay, written by Chuko Esiri, was one of the four chosen for NYU’s 2018 Purple List which was featured in the Hollywood Reporter._

The film follows the story of two struggling Nigerians (Mofe and Rosa), each working towards their shared dream of leaving the country for Europe but find ways to build the future they desire in their homeland when circumstances beyond their control stop them.

Eyimofe will screen at the Forum Section of the Berlinale festival which celebrates its 70th edition this year. The festival holds between February 20 and March 1, 2020.
