Today Thursday 28th January, all roads lead to Alliance Française Lagos (Mike Adenuga Centre) for the 3rd edition of the Night of Ideas in Nigeria.
The event organized by the Institut français du Nigéria and the Alliance Française de Lagos will feature Ennovate Dance House, a greative group.
Entitled “Night of Ideas: Circles of Solidarity”, the event will address the general theme CLOSE(R) in the light of the new solidarities that the crisis of our economic and social models calls for, in the wake of a pandemic that will leave us with a world that is as uncertain as ever.
The event will be divided into several salons which will allow the audience to wander through a variety of spaces, take part in conferences and workshops and enjoy cultural activities.
The event will also feature a photography exhibition titled “Imaging Oworo” a community photography project by the creative group, Ennovate Dance House, intended to re-imagine the Oworonshoki neighborhood in Lagos.
Audiences, both onsite and online will equally be treated to an interactive dance performance, A Man’s World, a new choreographic and musical piece by the artist collective Ennovate Dance House which aims to address gender inequalities.
Workshops and conferences that will deal with topical issues including Empowering the population through community initiatives, Developing easy tools to fight gender-based violence, and Using tech and innovation to bring people and lands closer together will also be part of the event.
A star-studded cast which includes Louis VERIN, Founder of Mitsio Motu, a French start-up based in Nigeria that offers training workshops for underprivileged communities in Lagos, Marvella ODILI, Director of Save Our Needy, a civil society organization based in Lagos, which aims to fight extreme poverty through education, Romain POIROT-LELLIG Founder of Kwik Delivery, an on-demand delivery platform focusing on the rich and diversified B2B and B2B2C market, Ifeoluwa OGUNDIPE, Founder of the Awa Bike initiative (mobile bike-sharing application) which seeks to address mobility issues in Nigeria will be on the ground to do justice to the various topic of discourse.
Tunji AZEEZ, Professor of Theatre, Film and Cultural Studies, involved in the Informal Justice Court project, aimed at improving the judicial process of inmates (Kirikiri prison, Lagos) through mock trials, Anita Kemi DASILVA, Obstetrician-gynecologist and founder of WARIF, a non-profit organization that fights against gender-based violence, rape and human trafficking occurring amongst young girls and women across Nigeria and Bukky WILLIAMS, Director of the non-profit organization Education As A Vaccine, which works with young people to improve their right to protection from all forms of violence will make up the cast.
The Night of Ideas, initiated by INSTITUT FRANCAIS, Paris, is an annual event dedicated to the free circulation of ideas and knowledge. In January 2021, more than 200 Nights of Ideas are expected internationally, from Finland to Peru, from Nigeria to Fiji, from Lebanon to Canada.
This year, INSTITUT FRANCAIS (Paris) designed a unique global program (online and free access) with 24 hours of live content from the 5 continents allowing local voices from around the world to explore the theme CLOSE(R).
