EbonyLife Films’ ‘The Royal Hibiscus Hotel’ (RHH) has joined the growing list of Nollywood flicks streaming on Netflix.

According to a newsletter made available to TCN by EbonyLife, RHH made its Netflix debut on June 22 for global audiences.

The 2017 rom-com is the latest addition to the streaming platform’s Nollywood catalogue after it premiered films like ‘Merry Men 2’, ‘4th Republic’, and ‘Living in Bondage: Breaking Free’.

The Royal Hibiscus Hotel tells the story of Ope, a struggling Nigerian chef in London, who moves back to Lagos and discovers that life is quite unpredictable. A chance encounter at her parents’ rundown hotel brings new hope, followed by disappointment, and she flees back to the UK.

Directed by Ishaya Bako, the film stars Zainab Balogun, Kenneth Okolie, Deyemi Okanlawon, OC Ukeje, Jide Kosoko, Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva, among others.

The movie explores the universal themes of love, laughter, dreams and family, making it easy for people of all ages and cultures to connect with it.

The Royal Hibiscus Hotel made its international debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2017. It was the only Nigerian movie and one of just three African features selected for the Contemporary World Cinema category, which spotlights forty-eight of the best new films worldwide.
