Burna Boy, Chadwick Boseman Win At BET Awards

Grammy award-winning Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy, has won the award for Best International Act at the just concluded 2021 BET Awards for the third consecutive year.

The show, which held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, USA with a live audience for the first time since the pandemic, had award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson as host.

The singer beat fellow Nigerian singer, Wizkid, and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania to emerge winner.

Others nominated in the category are Aya Nakamura (France), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (United Kingdom), Young T & Bugsey (United Kingdom) and Youssopha (France).

In a related development, the late African-American actor, Chadwick Boseman, beat Daniel Kaluuya and Eddie Murphy among others to win the ‘Best Actor’ award.

Chris Brown won Best Male R&B/Pop Artiste while the female version went to by H.E.R.

Album of the Year went to Jazmine Sullivan for Heaux Tales, beating Nas, Meghan Thee Stallion and others.
