Nigerian filmmaker, producer and film distributor, Ajifowoke Kazeem Dayo has been officially honoured by the City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, with a Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding contributions to film, storytelling, and cultural exchange.

The recognition, presented by the Office of the Mayor of Brampton, celebrates Dayo’s growing international influence in amplifying African stories and strengthening cross-cultural understanding through cinema. The award acknowledges his creative excellence and the global reach of his film productions, which have positioned African narratives on respected international platforms.

Ajifowoke Dayo is the founder and CEO of Face of Africa Media Concept, a production and distribution company established in 2014. With over a decade of industry experience, he has produced impactful feature films that explore identity, social change, and human connection. His debut feature, May 29, earned multiple international awards, while his most recent film, Depth of Us (2024), won Best Nollywood Drama at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.

Depth of Us has enjoyed significant global exposure, screening on major international airline platforms including Emirates Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Qatar Airways, as well as streaming across Africa, Europe, and North America. The film has also been showcased at notable festivals in the United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya, reinforcing its international relevance.

The recognition ceremony also honoured other notable figures in the creative and civic space, including celebrated Nollywood actor Jim Iyke, media personality Dayo Israel, and representatives of WakaCanada. Being honoured alongside such respected personalities further underscores the importance of the event and the calibre of individuals recognised by the City of Brampton, highlighting the broader cultural significance of Dayo’s work within the global African creative community.

Beyond filmmaking, Ajifowoke Dayo serves as an international film jury member, contributing to the evaluation and development of emerging global cinema through his work with various international film festivals.

‎Reacting to the honour, Dayo described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, reaffirming his commitment to telling authentic African stories that resonate beyond borders and create meaningful cultural dialogue.

‎The Brampton recognition marks another significant milestone in Ajifowoke Dayo’s expanding international journey and reinforces his position as a leading voice in contemporary African cinema and cultural exchange.
