Female drummer, Ayanbirin (Olakanye Olayemi Oluwatosin), has announced the maiden edition of the Mother-Drum Healing Arts Festival (MODHAFEST).

With ‘Healing, Hope and Recovery through Arts’ as its theme, the festival will hold virtually from December 4 to 6.

The drummer disclosed that her Mother-Drum Healing Arts Foundation is collaborating with Ara Entertainment Productions for the festival.

She added it would feature artists, musicians, choreographers, poets, drummers, art promoters, culture activists, actors, craftspeople, collectors and healthcare professionals, among others.

“We would also be having a monthly round-table discussion tagged “Break the silence, break the stigma’  via Zoom. Every last Sunday of the month at 12noon EST (11 am
Central), prominent personnel in the arts and healthcare system around the globe would be invited to have discussions about the societal benefits of early prevention of mental and substance use disorders. They would also highlight available treatments, integration of arts to support healing, and also to spread hope that recovery in all its forms is possible,” she explained.

The virtual festival will also feature exhibitions, training, discussions, pageants, lectures, workshops and conferences.

The drummer explained that the Mother-Drum Healing Arts Foundation Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to utilizing the therapeutic, innovative and recreational qualities of arts to raise awareness and educate people about addiction and mental health challenges. This, she added, would reduce/eliminate the stigma associated with the conditions as well as to enhance healing, offer and inspire hope to individuals or families affected by these conditions.
