Dear Olamide,
You dropped an album when no one expected one. And just when many had gone to meet the kingmakers to crown Naira Marley as king of the streets. While Zlatan becomes a senior chief.
You emerged.
999 emerged.
And from the album name, cover art, lyrics and delivery you wanted to pass a deliberate message. In doing this you decided to do it the street way. But this street came with spiritism.
You brought hell and some few demons to reclaim your throne. Your favorite demon, Phyno, also got a feature. Showing your loyalty to friendship. But you carried some new acts along as well.
However this was not a project to play with those targetting your crown as street king.
You talked about money. “Money wey dey make girls wey you no born call you daddy”.
You talked about ass. “Idi yen tobi, o tobi tobi”.
And when you talked about sex and womrn you truly exhibited how you have become the devil’s secretary in the highest spiritual level of occultism 999.
You so spitted the raw vulgar that those who thought Naira Marley was spoilt or evil would instantly understand that compared to you, the king of Marlians is an angel.
This has to be deliberate. You must have reversely repented. Because some few years ago, when your son was born. You swore to watch your lyrics hence forth. But with Wonma track…
You became an Anthony Joshua who needed to win his belts back in that second fight with Ruiz. You came to outdo Naira Marley on the Vulgar talks. And you won.
No radio station will dare play Wonma. No TV or any traditional media under regulation will dare play that song. Worst is no decent family man will dare play such song at home. But the song will make it to the clubs, the streets and we are scared for the kids.
These days they pick the songs fast from schools, streets, parties. That song is vodka to vulgar lovers. So if people became Marlians because of his dirty talks. They may just start worshipping another god. The old god called Marlian has certainly been a saint, compared to what Olamide did with this album.
So Naira Marley must be a 666 or 333. Olamide just stated he is 999. And whatever the joke is we should be careful how we laugh. Cos this new competition on who spits the dirtiest lines may soon become a league that will go out of control.
Aside talking dirty, you (Olamide) brought content. Even the Wonma had content. Solid content strong enough to be published as a book. And for some philosophers the same vulgar shit could be seen as wise sayings.
Because the core of the song is that no matter what a man does, his wife or girlfriend will be **cked. And you presented a literature here. Listing everything a man could possibly do to ensure his wife stays faithful to him.
You listed in details. Yet you sermonized that all such works will not work because they will still fu** the wife. I see no moral. But I know people will see morals in the song. Lots of people. Especially after some weed and alcohol.
What really makes this album demonic is how addictive it can become. The songs are going straight to the streets and clubs. And it will terrorize the community until Naira Marley decides to chase the songs back to hell with his own audio porn.
Well. I shouldn’t be writing you this letter on a Sunday. But hey, every day is the day of the lord. It’s better the children of God know what to expect from 999 album.
PS: I am curious though. What happened to your pledge to stop singing dirty because of your daddy status? I kind of understand though. The school fees and other bills don’t understand if the money came from ‘dirty talks”. But what shall it profit a man…
