10 Nollywood acts and their stereotypical roles

Stereotypes are common in Nollywood. You know that moment when you see a movie poster and the presence of a certain actor or actress gives you an idea of the plot and how it will pan out? Nollywood has some acts associated with specific roles that have brought them fame. Below are 10 of such.

Pete Edochie
Pete Edochie is perceived as the wisest man in Nollywood. His proverbs cause sleepless nights to his enemies. He reads his lines slowly, but it has more effect than an AK-47. In most of his Nollywood appearances, Pete Edochie can kill a whole village from his backyard with his profound proverbs.

Chinwetalu Agu
Talk about carving a niche for yourself. Chinewetalu Agu is famous for his sarcastic, hilarious and self-invented proverbs. At first, the sayings might come across as meaningless but makes a lot of sense if given a more profound thought.

Kanayo O. Kanayo
The ‘Baddest ritualist that ever liveth!’ Once you see Kanayo O. Kanayo in any movie, then you are sure that death, excess money and tears are a must. There is absolutely no movie where he ends up as a poor man. Oga must find a way to ‘hammer’ by killing anyone available.

Patience Ozokwor
Patience Ozokwor is the mother-in-law every new bride both in Nollywood and in real life prays not to have. God help the bride if, after one year of marriage, she refuses to get pregnant. Patience will make sure she makes her home a living hell. Patience and wickedness in Nollywood are like bread and butter.

Olu Jacob
If Olu Jacob is not the king of any Nollywood movie, you are watching, then change the channel. He is the King of Nollywood. His voice is also easily recognisable by all.

John Okafor
The mere sight of him is funny. John Okafor is unarguably Nollywood’s Mr Bean. He is known for his amazing dance steps and hilarious interpretation of roles.

Ini Dinma Okojie
Nollywood’s sweetheart! Famous for her bitchy roles. Pray not to have Ini Dinma Okojie as your sister-in-law, else sorry is your new name.

Nkem Owoh
More cunning than the tortoise, Nkem Owoh always has something to say concerning every situation. He is the silent trouble maker in most movies. A stingy family member than can beg from a beggar.

Funke Akindele Bello
Jenifa, as she is popularly known, created her accent. It is so hard for her to feature in a full movie without her using the ‘Jenifa’ accent.

Chinwe Owoh
Do you want to learn how to cry? Then make Chinwe Owoh’s movies, your best friend. This woman can cry for Africa. Her tears can flood a whole village.
