Yemi Alade Features Angelique Kidjo, Ziggy Marley In New Album

Yemi Alade, the Nigerian singer, has unveiled the tracklist for her forthcoming album titled ‘Rebel Queen’.

In a social media post, the songstress revealed that the 16-track album will be released across streaming platforms on July 26.

In ‘Rebel Queen’, Alade enlists Angelique Kidjo, Ziggy Marley, KiDi, Innoss B, Koshens, and Femi One.

The tracks in the album include ‘Karibu’, ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Ki Lo Wa Wa’, ‘Chairman’, ‘Ije Love’, ‘I’m Sorry’, ‘Happy Day’, and ‘Bop’.

Other tracks are ‘Big Connection’, ‘African Woman’, ‘Peace & Love’, ‘Medaase’, ‘Big Vibe’, ‘Carry Me’, ‘Lipeka’, and ‘Baddie remix’.

To celebrate the soon-to-be-released project, Alade hosted listening parties in Paris, London, New York and Lagos.

The Lagos event was held last weekend at The Seed in Lekki, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, she spoke about her experience while recording the project, which is her seventh studio album.

“July has been such an eventful month for my team as we hosted album release parties across Paris, London, New York and Lagos, all this month,” she said.

“We are creating an avenue for music lovers and core fans to enjoy my album privately and exclusively. Every city had its different vibe as well as similarities.”

Speaking on her favorite songs off the album, Alade said that each song had its moment.

“However, I would say some of the most memorable experiences recorded were ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Kilowawa’, ‘Peace and love’, ‘Carry me’, ‘I’m sorry’, ‘Chairman’, ‘BOP!’ to mention a few,” she added.

“Angelique Kidjo is an icon and a mother and I knew she would be a perfect fit for ‘African Woman’. Also, Ziggy Marley was the only person that I knew would understand and execute the aim of ‘Peace & Love’.

“Basically, the featured artistes’ core genres and personalities were things I considered for these collaborations.

“The album was recorded over several years and in different countries. I think I enjoyed recording this album the most because it was very intentional and proudly my best work yet”.

‘Rebel Queen’ is Alade’s seventh studio album. Her other projects include ‘King of Queen’, ‘Mama Africa’, ‘Black Magic’, ‘Woman of Steel’, and ‘Empress’.

Since she gained fame with the release of ‘Johnny’ in 2014, the songstress has established herself as a household name in the music industry.

Alade enjoys delivering her songs in English, Yoruba, and French languages.
