Tourism is set to account for 4.5% of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP by 2027, a latest report by the African Travel Commission has revealed.
The report titled African Travel Commission: 2020 To 2027 Tourism Outlook for West Africa delves into the Proportion/Percentage of West Africa GDP comes from Travel and Tourism and how important Travel and Tourism are to countries within the West African Sub Region
The report also projected that Gambia Mali Senegal Ivory Coast and Ghana will rank as the Top 5 Countries in West Africa by 2027 going by Travel and Tourism.
In the area of comparative GDP contributions from Travels and Tourism, Gambia came out tops. They are followed by Senegal, and Togo. Burkina Faso is ranked the least in the area of comparative GDP contributions
The report highlighted that Nigeria is doing less than Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Guinea and Benin in the area of Travel and Tourism comparative contribution to GDP.
