Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, has said he would like for his remains to be cremated when he dies.
Kuti, while speaking during a performance at the New African Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, stated that cremation is the most hygienic way.
“When I die, please cremate me, burn my body. It is the most hygienic way,” he announced to the audience at his Sunday evening show yesterday.

“Have you all thought about Ikoyi cemetery, this Lagos has been in existence for let’s just say 60 years and people die.
“If they don’t die today, they will die tomorrow and that burial ground has never been full and if you check it, it is not like it’s one million acres since I was little when we used to bury people there.”

Recall that former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, had in 2013 signed into law the cremation law.
According to the provisions of the law, the cremation must be carried out in a licensed crematorium after the deceased must have indicated in his will that he would prefer such.
The law also states that the cremation was voluntary for only those who might want to use such service, pointing out that people still had the liberty to bury their loved ones any other ways they preferred.
Femi Kuti, who is nominated for the fifth time at the Grammy Awards will be 60 later this year.
His music graduate son, Made, 26, also sings afrobeat and was jointly nominated for the Grammys with his father.
