Popular singer, Tiwa Savage, will be representing Nigeria at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) Listeners Choice Category which will be held in Kampala, Uganda.

The MAMAs will be broadcast on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV (DStv Channel 130).

The 40-year-old mother of one will vie for the Listeners Choice gong with 19 other artistes from across the continent such as Ghana’s Sarkodie; Zimbabwe’s Asaph; Focalistic and DBN Gogo both from South Africa, among others.

The finalists were selected by votes on local radio stations and social media, selecting the best publicly-voted musicians from different African countries.

“The MAMA is all about bringing the music to the people, celebrating the best that Africa has to offer and uniting us through African youth culture,” says Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at ViacomCBS Networks Africa (VCNA). “The Listeners’ Choice Award embodies this philosophy, as it ensures that the voices of music lovers across the diverse countries on the continent are recognised.”

The winner will be unveiled at a virtual edition of the Awards on February 20, 2021.
