The Woman King, Morocco’s The Blue Caftan, Others Join ‘Elesin Oba’ On TIFF’s Special Line-Up

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has confirmed EbonyLife’s (Elesin Oba) ‘The King’s Horseman’ as part of its special presentations lineup for this year’s edition of the festival.

The festival’s 47th edition will run from September 8 to 18. The 11 days of international and Canadian cinema will feature some of the biggest names in film, and TIFF’s Industry Conference, offering diverse and innovative perspectives on the art and business of film.

TIFF’s CEO, Cameron Bailey, who marks his first year as the sole leader of the festival, while announcing the 2022 lineup said: “We’re excited to welcome some of the most celebrated figures in movies back to Toronto to present their Gala and Special Presentation films. With stories that span six continents and feature performances you just have to see, this lineup delivers the rich experiences we wait all year for. Cinema is alive. Red carpets are back. And the best audience in the world awaits them in Toronto.”

TCN had reported that the film which is an adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s tragic play ‘Death and the King’s Horseman,’ will feature 16 years after another Nigerian film in Yoruba language, Tunde Kelani’s ‘Abeni’, made a similar outstanding outing at TIFF.
