Some time last week, a hammerhead shark sculpture was stolen in downtown Grand Junction. Today, that piece of downtown was returned safe and sound, and according to the artist, Nicholas Lofaro, the answer to the question of where the statue was could surprise you.
“It was actually placed right next to the pedestal where it was taken,” said Lofaro.
The artist also said that he wrote the Grand Junction art commission, and offered to make another shark, and would’ve kept making them until they weren’t needed anymore.
His exhibit is set to expire in October.
The art on the corner event for downtown Grand Junction is a huge opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents, and Downtown Grand Junction director Brandon Stam said
”We are very relieved that the sculpture was returned and have notified the artist, who is incredibly appreciative of the community’s support in helping get the sculpture returned. Art on the Corner is a gem for Downtown Grand Junction and something our community is incredibly proud of… Thank you to the many who took the time to help spread the word!”
