Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has returned to his hometown of Benin, Edo State, in preparation for his eagerly awaited homecoming concert.
Rema’s record label, Mavin Records, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to share a video capturing the artise’s arrival.
The post was accompanied by the enthusiastic caption: “Benin, your illustrious son; The Prince of Afrobeats – Rema is Home!”
Rema, who first gained widespread recognition with a viral freestyle on Instagram in 2018 to D’Prince’s track “Gucci Gang,” officially launched his music career in 2019 with the release of his debut single, “Dumebi.” Since then, he has become a prominent figure in the Afrobeats genre, winning the heart of audiences both locally and internationally.
The much-anticipated concert is set to take place on August 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
This event was first announced by the “Ozeba” crooner in July, generating huge excitement among fans.
This homecoming concert follows a previous attempt by Governor Godwin Obaseki to host Rema in December 2023, which was postponed due to health concerns.
