Celebrities gathered in Lagos on Saturday for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA 2026), arriving in bold and glamorous outfits for the red carpet event.

The ceremony, which honours achievements in African film and television, drew a lineup of entertainers including Osas Ighodaro, Laura Ikeji, KieKie, Nana Akua Addo, Mercy Eke, Uche Jombo, Tobi Bakre, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Akin Faminu.

Activities for the awards weekend began on Friday with Cultural Day, where guests wore traditional attire that reflected African heritage while matching the event’s formal tone.

Organisers presented the awards across 32 categories, including 18 jury-selected awards, 11 audience-voted categories, and three special recognition honours.Related News

Two new categories, Best Indigenous Language Film for North Africa and Central Africa, were added to broaden the awards’ pan-African scope.

Top contenders this year included ‘Gingerrr’, ‘The Herd’, ‘My Father’s Shadow’, ‘3 Cold Dishes’, and ‘The Serpent’s Gift’, all nominated in major categories.

The ceremony was broadcast live on Africa Magic channels and streamed online, with winners determined by a mix of public voting and panel decisions.
