ONGEA! 2022: Eastern Africa Music Summit Returns With Excitement

ONGEA!, the Eastern Africa Music Summit is returning for its seventh edition themed: ‘Embracing the New Normal’ from Wednesday 28th till Friday 30th September 2022.

The summit evolved out of KENYA MUSIC WEEK, which was founded in 2004, to create an accessible public forum for industry stakeholders (i.e. Musicians, Producers, Promoters, Distributors Media, Consumers, Government & Non-Governmental Organisations) to interact and produce solutions to industry challenges.

Founder of PHAT! Music & Entertainment Limited, Mike Strano said, “as our annual Corporate Social Investment, ONGEA! exists to help develop a Creative Industry that is more professional, transparent and profitable for all, utilising music as a driver”.

The summit has been held as hybrid event since its 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While COVID-19 restrictions have eased in Nairobi, organisers say the economy is still recovering, meaning that this year’s edition will still hold online.

With the entry of the Democratic Republic of Congo into the East African Community, the summit’s scope has increased to 17 Countries across Eastern Africa, also including Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Réunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
