The legendaey actor and one of Nollywood’s finest, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacibs, will be laid to rest on Friday October 2nd in Lagos, Nigeria’s entertainment nerve centre, where the thespian actor lived with his family fir decades.
Jacobs died on September 16th 2026 in his Lagos home after many years of illness.
According to an announcement released on Tuesday by his famiky, Olu Jacobs will be given a private burial after the church service holding at 10am on October 2 at This Present House Church in Freedom Way Street, Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos.
This Present House, an affiliate of Church On The Rocks was formerly Pastored by a Filmmaker and Medical Doctor, Dr. Tony Rapu, before Pastor Jude Ehiigie became the Lead Pastor of the congregation.
The wife of the deceased, Joke Silva, an actor and creative industry giant herself, shared the burial details on her social media pages.
Olu Jacobs, MFR, who was born on July 11th 1942 quietly marked his 84th birthday with his immediate family. He had had an elaborate 80th birthday party four years ago inspite if his ill health.
As part of the burial plans, a Night of Tributes is scheduled for Wednesday 30th September at 4pm at the Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos.
Incidentally his widow, Joke Silva, born on 29th September 1961 we gather will be celebrated privately for her 65th birthday by their three children, Olusoji, Olugbenga and Dayo in their Lagos Home.
Already, contemporaries of Olu Jacob who died of dimentia and associated ailments, his mentees, Hollywood and British friends are expected to fly into Nigeria to honour the British trained actor at the Night of Tributes.
