Nollywood in Hollywood Speaker Series to enrich, enhance filmmakers creativity- Organizers

The establishment of Nollywood in Hollywood Speaker Series is geared towards enriching and enhancing the creativity of Nollywood filmmakers, actors and stakeholders by tapping into the minds of some of the best filmmakers in the world. This much was revealed by Ose Oyamendan; Executive Producer/Managing Partner, 02A Media, Incorporated.

Ryan Coogler, director of Black Panther, the hugely successful 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character and his crew kicked off the Nollywood in Hollywood Speaker Series.

According to Oyamendan, the speaker series which is a bi-monthly speaker series, featuring top Hollywood filmmaker is presented by O2A Media, Inc in collaboration with the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles and The American Cinematheque with the aim to enrich and enhance the creativity of Nollywood filmmakers, actors and stakeholders by tapping into the minds of some of the best filmmakers in the world.

In his words, ‘the series hope to take viewers and listeners and into the minds of some of the best filmmakers in the world today to further. We hope the series enriches and enhances the creativity of Nollywood filmmakers, actors and stakeholders” he said.

Speaking further, the organizer revealed that the Nollywood in Hollywood project was established in 2018 to better present the Nigerian film industry to the world.

“In 2018, with a desire to better present the Nigerian narrative and films to the center of the entertainment industry, we started Nollywood In Hollywood in partnership with two giants of the industry – the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles and the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. www.nollywoodinhollywood.com. The annual event is a showcase of the best Nigerian films in the preceding year to the Hollywood Industry, the International entertainment media and the Nigerian Diaspora” Oyamendan said.

To further achieve that aim, the organizer pressed forward with the introduction of the Nollywood in Hollywood Speaker series while expressing his gratitude to the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California for making their archive available.

“Today, we continue with the introduction of the bi-monthly Nollywood In Hollywood Speaker Series with the generous partnership of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California who has made their archive available to us” he added.

He urged the public to always keep a date every fortnight for new speakers.

The Nollywood in Hollywood is an annual event organised by 02A Media in collaboration with The American Cinematheque and the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. The inaugural edition featured the screenings Isoken, 93 Days and The Bridge to packed houses.

For the second edition, two movies, King of Boys and Up North, were selected for screening.
