Fans are in for a treat as Netflix has announced two upcoming series from writer Harlan Coben.
Fool Me Once is currently number two in Netflix’s ‘Top 10’, despite it coming out over three weeks ago on New Year’s Day.
Based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, Fool Me Once follows grieving wife, Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan), who is trying to come to terms with the murder of her husband, Joe Burkett (Richard Armitage).
After the funeral, Maya installs a nanny cam to keep an eye on her two-year-old daughter, Lily (Thea Taylor-Morgan).
When taking a closer look at the footage, the mum is shocked to see her ‘dead’ husband in the house, playing with Lily.
Netflix says Keegan’s character ‘uncovers a deadly conspiracy that stretches deep into the past.’
And in the end, we learn that Maya was actually the one behind Joe’s death, after discovering he had murdered her sister (and that he was prepared to murder her, too).
The show did leave fans with some burning questions after watching all eight episodes, however. Like why did Shane (Emmet J. Scanlan) – Maya’s friend and fellow military officer – keep putting trackers on Maya’s car?
The crime author replied: “Not really, because I think in the end Shane’s behaviour is so obvious.
“Imagine your best friend, who trusts you with a house key, has PTSD, is taking medication, has been forced out of the military due to a scandal, had two close family murdered, is acting sketchy, is lying to you – and just told you that she saw her dead husband still alive.”
Coben added: “A good friend, especially one with Shane’s background, would do whatever he could to keep an eye (track) that friend and make sure she’s OK, especially when she’s always watching a little girl. The vast majority of people got that, I think.
“I often find that people think they find plot holes when in truth they just haven’t considered every possibility. But that’s part of the fun, so have it.”
Now, if Fool Me Once was your cup of tea, then you’ll be delighted with Netflix’s announcement of two more adaptations from the writer.
Taking to social media, Netflix said: “Following the recent success of Fool Me Once (Top 10 in 91 countries!) we’re excited to announce two new @HarlanCoben limited series adaptations… MISSING YOU will begin production this spring, and will then be followed by RUN AWAY.”
“Oh yessss Love Watching Harlan Coben series! They are superb,” one fan commented, as another added: “Great news, we’re waiting.”
Missing You will follow detective Kat Donovan who stumbles across her estranged fiancé on a dating app, forcing her to delve back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder, according to Deadline.
While Run Away is about a man named Simon, whose life is shattered when his oldest daughter, Paige, turns to drugs and runs away from home.
Simon’s search takes him into a wild and violent journey.
The dramas will be the ninth and tenth Coben adaptations produced by Netflix.
