Afrobeat artistes, Made Kuti; theatre svlcholar, actor/singer, Tunji Sotimirin; and Skit maker, Edgar Eriakha will perform at the 2022 edition of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Festival in Lagos.
Made will join the likes of his grandfather, Fela; his father, Femi; Davido and Banky W who have in the past graced the MUSON stage.
Organisers said the performers are billed to perform on different days of the festival.
Made Kuti will be featuring at the festival’s Jazz night on November 5, because of Made’s availability, while Tunji Sotimirin and Edgar Eriakha will make appearances in a musical play of Wole Soyinka ‘Child Internationale’ on October 21.
The chairman of MUSON, Louis Mbanefo, SAN, during a press briefing held last Wednesday at the MUSON Centre in Lagos, recalled how MUSON had been holding concerts since 1984, and the Musical school has grown into an accredited institution.
“MUSON was formed by a group of friends in 1983, most of whom are now deceased, with the main objective of promoting the understanding and enjoyment of serious music,” he said
Continuing he added, “from humble beginnings, the School has become a diploma awarding institution accredited by the Ministry of Education and the music examination Board in England. The School has produced over 350 Diploma graduates.”
The 7-day Festival is expected to run from October 21st to October 30th 2022.
October 25 will be celebrate as MUSON Day with a concert while October 28 will be dedicated to celebrating the wife of MASON’S Patron, Senator Daisy Danjuma, on her 70th birthday.
The gala concert on October 30 will have the MUSON Philarmonic orchestra in concert as well as conductor Emeka Nwokedi.
